The Institute for Bulgarian Language (IBL) is one of the oldest institutes of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. In 2004 the Institute was named after Prof. Lyubomir Andreychin.
The Institute for Bulgarian Language ”Prof. Lyubomir Andreychin” (IBL) is the main centre for scholarly research and description of Bulgarian focusing on its contemporary state, history, dialectal diversity and interaction with other languages. The Institute is a central coordinating unit responsible for determining the Bulgarian national language policy and maintaining connections with Bulgarian study centres abroad and with institutions interested in research in Bulgarian.
Today, 67 years since its foundation, the Institute for Bulgarian Language consists of 12 research units – 11 departments and an Information Centre and Library.
